I
was the international guest kite flyer at the 26th Festival of the Winds on
Bondi beach in September 2004. This was a well run festival, organised by the
Australian Kiteflyers Society, taking place over 3 days with Sunday seeing
the largest number of spectators. Despite tricky wind conditions and a chilly
breeze the sun shone and a highly colourful display of kites was maintained
under an intense blue sky.
Australians are renown for their great hospitality and during my two week
visit I was introduced to many kite enthusiasts from Australia and New Zealand.
The visual delights of the Australian landscape left me with a memorable
impression.
