KITE FESTIVALS

During 2009 I began experimenting with inkjet transfer graphics on ripstop nylon.

These kites were constructed using the first successful prints.

'Take 5' measures 55cms x 43cms, with a carbon and glassfibre frame.

The graphic on 'Homeboy' (far right) is a digitally manipulated photomontage created from photographs of graffiti and surface textures taken during visits to Jerusalem and NYC. The kite measures 60cms x 43cms.

In the Rebel kites (lower 3 images) - the first is based on graffiti photographed in Berlin. It is 100 cms x 60 cms and has a carbon and glassfibre frame.

For another Rebel kite I photographed a stencilled face of a girl on which was also cast the shadow of a tree.

The third Rebel kite incorporates a handstand figure (conveniently balancing on the lower cross spar)

Lower right: Ballerina
